Corporate social responsibility

At FCT, our relationships with our customers, employees, stakeholders and communities are guided by strong values. We are committed to serving with passion, to exceeding expectations, to thinking differently and always acting with integrity. We work to ensure that our activities produce minimum negative impact on our environment and the people around us. FCT products and services not only reduce risk for our customers, they also reduce costs and paperwork.

Our focus on corporate responsibility also extends beyond our customers to our local communities. For many years, FCT and our employees have given generously to local charities supporting Red Cross Disaster Relief, United Way, and local food banks, and many other organizations, as well as committing over $275,000 in direct and in-kind support to Habitat for Humanity Canada. FCT has been the top corporate fundraising team in the Around the Bay Road Race in Hamilton in support of the St Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation and has entered a team for each of the past 14 years. FCT has also participated for many years in the Cancer Society’s Relay for life and is also a corporate member of Partners for Life, providing blood donations to Canadian Blood Services.

The FCT Charitable Foundation (FCTCF) is a private charity foundation (registration #80435 3456 RR0001) which directly empowers FCT employees to select and support charities in the region in which they work. It enables our employees to put into action, in very meaningful ways, their passion to serve. FCTCF is required under its charity registration to support charitable activities to alleviate homelessness and poverty, and to offer scholarships to individuals attending post-secondary institutions in Canada.

In April 2015, the FCT Charitable Foundation launched The Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students who have been accepted or are currently enrolled at a post-secondary Canadian institution.

The Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship program awards five $1,000 scholarships to post-secondary students in Canada. This scholarship program is named after The Honourable William G. Davis, the 18th Premier of Ontario, whose passion for education contributed to his work in building Ontario’s community college system. Mr. Davis continues to serve as the Chair of FCT’s board of directors, a position he has held for the past decade. He also served on the board of directors for FCT’s parent company, First American, from 1997-2013.
